5 speed tranny

I have an '04 5 speed. it needs replaced
I can get a '99 5 speed.

I know the tranny's are the same. and they both came off a 3.4. everything should be the exact same on these correct. I found some info on differences with the t-case plugs for different years (add or not and reverse) but I'm using my t-case. Is there anything I overlooked?

while swapping them is there anything I should change on the donor? It only has 120k on it. My broke one had 170k before I lost the 4th gear synchro. But that was my fault. the rear seal needed fixed and I let the fluid get to low.

 

the tranny i'm getting is 300 bucks. I figured by the time I bought the synchros and had a shop press them in it was easier to just get another used one. (they do need pressed correct, my uncle told me they did and I didn't check to verify.)

 

I was just reading that. I think you posted it on another thread. Like i said by the time I either buy a press or pay to have the stuff pressed and get a bearing seperator it will just be a lot nicer to drop in a used tranny. Then I can fiddle with my tranny without worrying about getting it done real fast. I cant be driving around to go get stuff pressed without my truck.

 

i would like to rebuild mine but if I screw it up I don't have the time to wait around to figure it out. I was just using it without 4th gear (although I can shift into 4th without using the clutch). But I found one for 300 and it would be nice to have 4th gear again. I'll probbly change the clutch while i have the tranny out. it has 60k miles of abuse on it.
