ok guys ive been trying to figure what the shit you guys are talking about when you are talking about backspacing. Im used to a jeep, 3.5" BS, 3.75" etc etc, now i buy a taco and you guys are talking in +/- 45 ??? totally lost, im assuming your not using the metric system but cant figure it out.

anyone that can shed some light id be very happy.

im trying to figure out the stock Backspacing on my stock '00 taco, and see it i need different rims to swing 32/11.5/R15's after i get my 2.5" lift installed.

    THANKS!

Welcome to TW. BS is confusing. As Juggernaut said, sometime folks just a assume you know what they are referring to. Maybe this will help.

Stock (factory) backspacing for 95.5 thru 04 Tacomas is +15 millimeters (stamped right on the rims) which equates to about 9/16". 2nd gen Tamomas, +2005 models, have +30 mm of BS. A common aftermarket wheel BS is 0 mm (also referred to as 4.5" of BS). This means that many times aftermarket wheels stick out about 9/16" further than stock wheels on 1st gens.

Anyway, translated (a bit) into english, a stock wheel on a '96 thru '04 model has a little more than 5" of BS. Actually 5.09" of BS (4.5" + 15 mm) and 2nd gen stock wheel is a little more than 5.5 " of BS. Actually 5.68" of BS (4.5" +30 mm).

    Does this help?

The answer to that depends on how much, if any, lift you have. I have heard others state that one can run "32s" without a lift. But I suspect there will be rubbing under thos conditions.

Back in the day I ran 32x11.5-15s on stock rims on my '98 TRD with a 2" spacer lift with no rubbing at all. I currently run 32x10s (255x75-17s, 0 offset, 4.5" BS) on my '02 TRD with ~2.5" of lift with no rubbing whatsoever.

ok that works. I did order the daystar 3.5" lift (2.5" spacer + 1" body lift) i figure ill throw the spacer lift in and if it looks like it could use more ill add the BL as well.

    thanks guys
