I just purchased a aftermarket remote keyless entry for my 01 Tacoma and the directions say I need to insert a pin(or bent paper clip end) into the hole on the Alarm ECU to progam it. The directions say the A.ECU is under the drivers seat....but it isnt there. Does anyone know where the Alarm ECU is? Thanks, Mike.

I'm confused ... What makes you think you have an alarm ECU in the first place?

Alarms (and keyless entry using the Toyota alarm ECU) weren't standard equipment in 2001.

The directions with the remote I ordered for a 2001 Tacoma say there is a alarm ecu under the drivers seat, if it is not under the seat, to call the dealer and ask the service dept. where it is located. I thought I would try this forum before I go ask the dealer. Thanks, Mike.

I do not think you have the alarm ecu there.

My 2002 does not have it.
