changing instument cluster want tach?

probably an old question but I just bought a 1998 4x4 tacoma with basic 4 cyl package. found a junkyard that has instument cluster like I need. Will this work? the difference is only a tach and digital odo. guy says hes done it on older trucks but never a tacoma. He thinks will work. really think tach should be no problem but was wondering about odo since it is dial type on my cluster but digital on tach model? Need help was planning on going and gettin it on Tuesday. Guy said I could take it off and save a few bucks and I could also see how to take apart.
