Its not gonna happen anytime soon, but several months from now i was thinkin about selling my 01 Tacoma and gettin my dads work truck which is an 09 Prerunner. When tht time comes, i'll have to make a little payment to my dad every month for a while after he gives me the truck. Right now my truck right now has no payment except for insurance. Is it worth selling my truck tht i have now with no additional payments for a newer truck with a lot less miles but has a monthly payment? Heres a pic of the two side by side

How many miles does your 2001 have on it? You'd also be trading down from 4x4 to 4x2.

That's a pretty open ended question... You won't get a whole lot of money for your truck with 270,000 miles on it. You need to weigh what the payment would be for taking your dad's truck vs another with lower miles. The benefit to your dad's is you know it's history and how it was cared for. If you go for another truck, you might just be inheriting someone else's problems. Your dad's truck has a lot of miles for a '09. You could definitely find another '09 or even an older Tacoma with less miles, it just depends on the deal you're getting from your dad. I would imagine you could find a lot of '08s or '07s for sale in around the 30 - 40,000 mile mark, people unloading them or trading them in now that they're out of warranty.

I would keep what you have figure out what dad wants and what the payment would be, put that money aside and save for something with less miles, of course you are going to have some maintance issue's and repairs on the 01, thats going to happen every once in awhile, but those payments you would make to dad come every month.
