What you think of the roof rack?

My budy who used to have a first gen tacoma (curently has a sweet fj) has a yakima roof rack system for an xtra cab first gen and a load warior basket that he told me to take and run for a while to see if i liked it, he payed $585 for the whole thing new, he said he would sell it to me for 200 bucks, how do you guys think it looks on my truck, thanks for the opinions in advance

 

I don't like the way it looks. But if you're going for function over looks then get it. Might look alright and more balanced on top of a bed shell but not on top like that.

just my opinion though.

 

well not exactly what i was hoping for but thanks for the honesty, i guess i could always take the basket off and just run the rails and put the basket on when i needed it

 

I say ditch the Basket. Keep the Roof Rack though, I think they look good. Got one on my Double Cab

 

I agree. I think roof racks like that look better on full size trucks & jeeps. My buddy has one on his Chevy & with the light rack, it's pretty loud from the wind on the fwy. I tripped out the first time I heard it.

Good price though & if it will be useful for you I'd say get it.

 

Basket is cool and all, but would definitely look a LOT better on a shell. The rack is nice, though

 

I'm sure the basket is very useful. If you're going on a camping trip or something I'd put it on. Normally tho, I think it looks like a bit of a bird catcher. Keep the roof rack on and keep the basket in the garage until a trip that calls for it

 

BTW, I had a Rola Basket on my old car, and it cut down on the gas mileage by about 2 mpg and had lots of wind noise. It was a pain in the butt to clean the top of my car.

Cool on camping trips though!

 

Looks like crap, it would look better on my 2nd Gen Double Cab.

 

I'd say just put the basket on when you need it. Otherwise it's pretty cool and a great deal!

 

You know, I like roof racks. But I, in my own thought and alternate world just can't swing getting one when i have a pickup truck. Now with out a doubt if I had an suv, or FJ, or 4Runner, I would be getting one in a heart beat, but I just think whats the point of having a pickup bed then.

Thanks for all the thoughts, I'm planning on getting it but don't know if ill run the basket on all the time or not but at least I have the easy option

 

Tell ya what, You buy it for 200... and I'll give ya 250 for it! No really though if you get it and don't like i"ll be down in NC in a few months and I'd definitely take it off your hands for whatever ya put into it. Problem solved worry free man!
