Harsh ride from the rear

    ok, so I think I will need to replace my rear leaf springs sometime soon. I dont have any pictures but all the ones on here where the spring is arcing the wrong way, thats what mine look like.

    anyway, the ride is pretty harsh in the back. I know its a truck and the bed is unloaded etc. but I am not sure it should be this harsh of a ride.

    my main question is, will new leaf springs help this? it seems logical that a new spring with positive arc will allow the supsension to travel more freely.

    also, how much is the price of a new set of leaf springs? I dont plan on lifting my truck and would like it to sit stock height.

    I will be installing a trailer hitch to tow a small utility trailer with at most a four wheeler or motorcycle on it so I dont need to increase my payload capacity.

    will new springs cure some of the axle wrap? (I know this question has been asked a million times but figured I would ask it since I started this thread)

    They arent that hard to install are they? I mildly mechanical.

    I have the replacement leafsprings from - 5-pack - and new shocks as well, there was much improvement in the ride. My old leaf packs were horrible - negative arc in the front and flat/negative in the back. I was constantly hitting the bump stops with the stock suspension due to everything being so worn out and axle wrap was driving me crazy.

    The 5-pack from Wheeler's does give about a 2" lift, the 4-pack will keep you closer to stock. I hardly notice the lift on mine which is good because I didn't want to lift the truck, I only went with the 5-pack because it seemed to be a more guaranteed way to solve the axle wrap issue.

    Yes, did the leaf swap with a friend. Not too hard if you have the right tools and a large can of PB Blaster to soak all of the nuts and bolts. That was the most difficult part about the swap, trying to free everything up. It helped a lot to spray everything down a couple of times beforehand. I think most of the guys in the group buy did their own too.

    not a tough job, just be patient and take your time to make sure you do everything properly and safely.

    i second the 5-leaf pack from wheeler's since that's what i got. like MTgirl said... 4-leaf pack if you want close to stock ride... 5-leaf definitely provided a lift. good luck!

    nothing, all stock expect got a OE replacement air filter K&N.
    on wheelersoffroad, they have the 4 leaf pack with no lifts and the 5 pack gives a 1.5 lift. the 4 pack price is almost as much as the 5 pack. yeah those rear leafs replacement are not cheap at all.
