Power Steering Pump

Fluid is being atomized and spread on the underside of the hood.
Power steering pump appears to be leaking at the front seal.

Can replacement of the front seal correct the problem?

Because seal replacement or pump replacement require the removal of the pump replacement would seem the better but more costly choice. Agree?

Any pointers on the power steering pump replacement procedure?

Thanks to all.

Whodat?

Hey Whodat? I would replace the pump, it's faster than rebuilding the old one and you wont save that much money.

What did you end it up doing with the pump? I got the same problem. Check the prices from the dealer and it is $408.77, Oreilly sells them for $115.99. I can't decide if saving $300 is worth it the long run.

fidencio look on the internet at the Toyota oem parts, I'm sure you can find it cheaper than going to your local dealer, thats what I do. I like oem better than the aftermarket parts. but 300 is a big savings.

I checked on line first but they don't refer to the steering pump just the rack. I got the one from the autoparts and it is just like the OEM. it is just refurbished. It comes with life time warranty and the OEM does not. if it fails I will just take it back.

Thanks for the site.

Just my $0.02 worth but I would just buy the oreillys pump. I have bought alot of stuff from them and have had very few problems with the parts and 99% of the parts I have bought have a life time warranty and I have never had a problem with take one back and getting a new one!
