Relay headlights?

has anyone here relayed their headlights?

this is common in the VW work and makes the headlight WAY brighter (it draws power directly from the battery vs through the headlight switch etc)

i've already got an H4 harness so it should just plug right in


any thoughts?

 

I've got driving lights so personally I don't see the point but if you're going to do it, I say document it and make a DIY thread. I'm curious to see the results!

 

well i don't need driving lights if this mod works...i jsut wanted to know if anyone else has done this

what are the stock headlight housings made of? is it all plastic? i haven't checked yet

 

Yeah, basically all plastic except for a couple adjustment screws. They're fairly durable though. Are you asking because of heat resistance? People retrofit HIDs in the stock housings all the time without issues.

 

hid don't produce anywhere near the heat though

ya it would be the heat because i'd run higher wattage bulbs

 

ooooh, I'd buy some used stockers to experiment on then. I don't think they'd have an issue depending on how high you went. People paint the inside of the housing and the stock bulbs don't even burn the paint. Obviously an 80+ watt bulb might have some issues though...
