Rain stick behind my dash...

Got an interesting issue with my truck. 96 auto, 160k miles... about 1 1/2 weeks ago or so it started.

It literally sounds like there's a rain stick behind the dash (center area/where head unit is)

Whenever we take off from a stop, or near full stop, there's a trickling water/rain stick sound. Sounds like it comes from the middle dash area. Not sure if it's something in the engine bay or what.

Any ideas what this could be?

 

could be somthing with the ac. my brothers corolla had a block in one of the lines and made a sound sorta like that when turning. left only for some reason.

 

Hmm could be. Our AC isn't really blowing cold anymore... this happens whether or not the AC is turned on though.

What would I need to check? AC lines?

 

ya it was a drain hose that was plugged so we just used a coat hanger and pushed the blockage out. the sound was coming from behind the glove box though.

 

Should I just trace the hose from the AC and try the same? Do i need to worry about freon comin out or what? Never dealt with AC before

 

ya it was a drianage hose so it should only be connected on one end. but maybe google it to see what hose. oh and dont put a hole in the side of the hose eather

 

Where is this hose located? Got a pic of it by chance? I'd like to try and get it unclogged asap...

got someone coming to look at the truck in a little bit and would like to have it fixed or at least be able to tell the person what hose it might be...

Where is the ac unit located?

 

The hose is just for condensation to drain out... it's just water. No Freon. There should be a little hose just dangling kind of beside the rear half of the passenger front wheel well. To help find it, run your truck with the ac on and get out and start looking... water will drip out fairly quickly unless it's totally blocked.
