Hay guy i got a quick question, ive got a guy thats wants me to change out his clutch and pressure plate, on a 2000 2wd V6. My question is how long should it take to change that, and is it real difficult. Ive changed out clutches before but only on FWD.

    Thanks

I can't imagine that it would take any longer than the 4wd... no transfer case and extra weight to wrestle with.... Still probably wouldn't hurt to allocate a full day to get her done.

If you plan on a couple of hours.... it will take all weekend. If you allocate a full day then it will take a few hours to change it out and the rest is good beer drinking time.

Someone on this forum did it in his garage without a lift. I believe he said actual wrenching time was around 7 hours.

I didn't know that double cab tacomas came with a standard tranny? Or is it another truck? Not the one in your sig.

took me 4 hours to change mine. But I had help from a friend and we had a lift also. pretty easy really, but the lift makes it soooo much nicer than laying on the ground. If I were to charge someone, I would charge about 200 bucks labor. Thats just me though. Find a friend that wants to learn how to change one though to help you free of charge!!!!!! It helps with the grunt work of the tranny/transfer case. Hope that helped. Oh..... just thought about something..... You will have to take out 4 little bolts that hold a "dust cover" on that is located I believe between the flywheel and the bottom of the bellhousing where they butt up together...... they are a PITA to get to. You will be cussing heavily by the time you get them back in after you're done. Good luck.
