    Ive looked for quite some time, and I have not been able to locate any spindle made specifically for the 1st Gen 6 lug currently in production.
    My questions relating to this are:

    1. Does anyone know of such a part existing, that I am too retarded to find?

    2. Would the Fabtech 95-04 Spindle, which according to http://www.thepartsbin.com/sitemap/toyota~spindle~parts.html says "Only for 5 Lug", but then right below that statement says it will fit in almost every other truck...

    Toyota Tacoma Spindle also fits these models:
    • 1998|1999|2000::Limited; 6Cyl 3.4L;
    • 1998|1999|2000::SR5; 6Cyl 3.4L;
    • 1998|1999|2000|2001|2002|2003::DLX; 4Cyl 2.4L;
    • 1998|1999|2000|2001|2002|2003::DLX; 4Cyl 2.7L;
    • 1998|1999|2000|2001|2002|2003::DLX; 6Cyl 3.4L;
    • 1998|1999|2000|2001|2002|2003::pre Runner; 4Cyl 2.4L;
    • 1998|1999|2000|2001|2002|2003|2004::pre Runner; 4Cyl 2.7L;
    • 1998|1999|2000|2001|2002|2003|2004::pre Runner; 6Cyl 3.4L;
    • 2000::Limited; 4Cyl 2.4L;
    • 2000::Limited; 4Cyl 2.7L;
    • 2000::SR5; 4Cyl 2.4L;
    • 2000::SR5; 4Cyl 2.7L;
    • 2001|2002|2003|2004::S-Runner; 6Cyl 3.4L;
    • 2004::Base; 4Cyl 2.4L;
    • 2004::Base; 4Cyl 2.7L;
    • 2004::Base; 6Cyl 3.4L;
    ...actually work in a PreRunner?

    and if the answers are both no:

    3. What exactly makes it only for the 5 lug? The mounting points?

    4. What are the differences in the mounting systems between the two generations? Are the mount points drastically different? Is it the overall dimensions? Basically... How much work is it going to be to mod a 2nd gen spindle to drop it onto my 04 if it comes down to that?

    Hopefully this long series of rambling questions isn't too confusing for anybody.

    Yeah I don't think anyone makes spindle for the 1st gen, I'm not 100% sure but it has something to do with the LCA ball joint.

    I'm sorry but this just makes me smile. I never thought I'd hear someone with a 6 lug truck complain about not being able to find aftermarket support... try lifting a 5 lug :frusty:

    Ok for the spindle... but everything else is made for 6 lug only. There are a few exceptions, but we don't have nearly the options. And I can see why, who would buy a econobox 5 lugger to lift it?

    back to the OP, the Fabtech spindle lift is for 5 lug only from what i recall...

    you might want to call Fabtech directly and see if they now have a 6 lug spindle lift, but i highly doubt it...

    as for a direct bolt on aftermarket spindle lift for 1st gens, i doubt anyone will go through the trouble of R&D and then production as most 1st gen owners will opt for cheaper costing lifts...

    i don't think the big companies see it profitable to market to the older gen tacomas as they likely figure most will not want to drop so much money on an older truck...

    considering a spindle lift on a 6 lug would average about $1,000 retail, you may as well save up and go long travel and get better performance out of the truck...

    sorry about no replys for a while guys, work's keeping me busy lately.

    Well i already got about 2800 invested in just the suspension right now, with Icon coilovers, Deavers leaf packs, Billy 5100s, and TC UCAs on their way, so i dont want to have to return them all the way back to cali, just to spend even more money. I was just hoping to stack a spindle and coilover to get a substantially larger lift. Im not going to be doing any crazy offroading, just trying to compete more with the 4 foot lifted American trucks that every Marine here seems to have.

    I can see where you are coming from with the statement regarding people not wanting to spend large amounts of money on a 1st gen, and i find that to be rather disapointing. I want to do something to my truck that will not just break or wear out in a year or two. I want the best (or at least close to that) parts, because when it comes down to using my truck as a daily driver and occasionally making 850 mile one way trips to NH to visit family, i want something i can rely on. If its going to cost a bit more to have more durability and reliability, and not just half-ass it, well thats the route Im going to take...

    Afterthought Edit: My first vehicle, my father's old '95 2.4L 5 lugger he bought brand new, had 225,000 miles on it with the original clutch before i had to replace it. The truck is still going strong in the hands of my younger brother as he uses it to go to work and college. I dont want to compromise a truck which can last far beyond many other manufacturers vehicles by putting some shitty parts into it. I want something that will be just as durable as the truck itself.

    Anyways, thanks for all the input guys.

    So I took a look at the Tuff Country 5" lift, and it includes new longer spindles. However, I am not going to pay for a 1500 dollar kit that comes with a bunch of pieces i dont want, such as the coil spacers and blocks for the rear. I just sent Tuff Country an email explaining that I already have parts, so I would like to order only the spindles, steering shaft extension, and sub-frame, and asked about the price if this was possible.

    Does anyone know exactly how much longer the spindles that kit includes are? Its not worth it to buy new spindles if they only add one or two inches.
