When you realize the greatest thing about the truck you're driving is: No bullchit, just a solid truck

 

when you realize its not a plastic truck, well on 1st gen

 

...when you need wear glasses to find the gas pedal

 

same as gen2. cant see it in the day..not bright enough.

 

When everyone else has to fold in their mirrors to follow

 

When you leave the suburbs and go into remote parts of texas in small towns, getting REALLY bad looks from all the folks driving chevys,dodges, and fords

^^^ that happened to me today as i was picking up my deer meat i left to get processed lol. i only saw ONE other toyota truck, and it was a newer tundra,but that was near the main highway and it looked like a mall crawler.

When you drive past a broken down domestic and think "tsk tsk, should've bought a toyota like i did"

When you have your brake pedal to the floor just to come to a stop from highway speeds (atleast for the 2nd gens)

When you "out-mudded" your buddy in his 1970s ford bronco, and you only have a 4x2 PreRunner with no diff lock (another true story)

When you first got your tacoma, you were stunned at how fast it is for a truck, well for the 2nd gens. (or maybe not, but i sure as hell was surprised at how fast this thing did 0-60)

When you've probably towed more than the "recommended" rating for towing and had no need to worry or not worry as much.

When even the 4 Cylinder 2nd Gen tacoma has quite a bit of grunt for a 4 cyl.

 

When everyone else is stuck in a hole and ur driving around the trucks in a figure 8 then they laugh when u stop moving u just smile and put it in 4 wd then keep going

 

...when you have to take your sunglasses off to see what radio station you're on.

 

you realize your truck is 20 years old and has 400,000 miles rusted to hell but the motor still purrs like a kitten

 

...when your neighbor hears a ticking noise under your hood and calls the bomb squad.

 

Hah, that would be great to see

 

When you unlock the girls door to look like a gentlemen, then get a nice boob shot when the girl leans over and unlocks your door for you

When you drive through 8 inches of mud in two wheel drive while others get stuck while in 4 wheel drive

When you pay well over 10 grand for a truck that is almost 8 years old, in complete confidence

 

...when your catalytic converter gets stolen.

When your factory clutch lasts over 135k miles


Or original clutch lasts 240K and you still get $6k for it when you sell it to the person who called on it 10 minutes after listing it on Craigs list (true story).

5. When you are proud of that truck -even though she's getting older you still have that same pride you had in her when you bought her

 

When you have, power steering, A/C, factory tow package, alarm and you still have to manually lock the doors and roll the windows up lol....

 

..when toyota would rather do a $10k frame swap then buy back a truck with a book price of $7500.
