Dog mod

Coming from a Tundra, the back seat on this Taco has taken some getting used to. The other day while it was raining, I put my two medium (40-50lbs each) dogs in the ext cab part of the truck. They struggled with managing thier bodies on the small half section towards the back. I thought that it would be nice to extend that platform so that they could lay out (well, partially at least). Anyway, with nothing to do today I started taking meausrements and before i knew it, I had a nice extended platform for the rear.

Just thought I would share....

Awesome. Wish you had done this a long time ago. When I had my '99 extended cab, my lab always had problems sitting in the extended area. It was only really a problem when my wife went with us in the truck as then she was taking the passenger seat from the dog, so I just blamed the wife.lol

thats awesome! i would always lay a bunch of coats down for my pooch but now that hes real close to two hundred lbs he gets the shell for fall/winter

Thats great. I may do this too, if you hinged it in the back you could only use one front leg on each side and put stuff under there too. You know the good stuff like chips and beer and stuff.

Very nice. How do they get in the back? Over the console or with the passenger seat pulled up?

 

Passenger seat up is enough room for em to jump in.

 

Does that plywood flex at all? Or is the center support enough?

 

The center is enough....I may need to put a support on the extreme outer edges though; not for when the pooches are in but for when the enter/exit. Tends to lift up the other side.

 

Ah, didn't think of that. I may do this to have some place to sleep if I need to

 

Hmm, don't think it would be good for that...unless your a tiny human!
