My truck is a 1997, I don't think there were flares for it. I got the TRD flares, the smaller one when
they first came out on the TRD versions. They are more round and not chunky looking and snap
    right on.

I bought my white 99 toyota tacoma prerunner sr5 v6 with the chrome package including chrome step bars about three days after they were released to dealerships. I watched my white tacoma extended cab come off the truck upon delivery WITH the white fender flares pictured at the beginning of this thread. I got into my new tacoma with less than 8 miles on it. It did not have any dealer tags or stickers on it as I requested when it was being delivered off there truck. I bought it from what was then called "Holley" in Brownwood, Tx. Not sure if it's still there or named the same since I haven't been there since 2004. So I'm convinced it came from the factory that way. The white fender flares were extremely rare. I only saw 3 other tacomas with them the 9 years I had mine and those 3 didn't even have the chrome step bars like mine. The ONLY thing I did to mine was switch from the factory firestone wilderness 3 tires (31") to bf Goodrich 31" mud terrain tires and then to bf Goodrich 32-12's TA KO's then back to the same (but new) 31" mudders, because the 32-12's rubbed only when I turned the wheel all the way and reversed. It gave the truck a beefier stance with the wheel well more filled in. I also had to have my speedometer adjusted to the tires for accuracy. Which got me out of a speeding ticket (thanks discount tire for not advising me to do so when I got the tires). My hands were the only hands to do any work on the truck, which I kept mint and got premium $$$ when I sold it. Sorry for rambling, I hope this helped.
