Tacoma Tail light out and fuse blows

Just realized that not only is my Gages out but my tail light is as well and corner lights
The brake light works fine, just the tail light.
The fuses inside the cab (gage and stop light) have been replaced (they were ok before replacement)
There is a tail light fuse under the hood that is broken. I replaced it but when I move the headlight switch to park it blows.

MY QUESTION IS: I can hear the relay for "Tail Light" clicking when I turn the headlight switch on. Is that normal?

Any other suggestions?

 

Now that I think about it when I turn my lights on I hear something click that sounds just like a relay over in the right side of my engine so it may be. But do your tail lights even have a relay?

 

Yea it has relay. SO far my research has pointed to my cd player that I put in 2 months ago. Did you recently replace a cd player?

 

I had a similar problem a few years back. It turned out the trailer wire plug had corroded and shorted the lights out. If you have trailer lights, check them for corrosion.

 

Yes I thought that could be my problem, however I isolated that problem by disconecting both tail lights from the harness, its still blowing the fuse

 

Bad ground somewhere I'm thinking. Do you have a trailer harness hooked up? If so, it may be not wired correctly or not grounded properly.

I disconnected both tail lights and fuse did not blow. What does that mean?

 

Holy thread revival, good on you for searching. That tells you that your short is somewhere in one of the taillights. Maybe try hooking one back up at a time to isolate which side it's on.
