Tire question from rookie 4x4 Tacoma owner

Does anyone know the largest size tires I can run on my 16" wheels for a 2004 Double cab V6 Tacoma? I have 265 / 70 / 16's on now and am looking to put on some larger Goodrich AT's that don't affect suspension or rub at all.

The local tire shop mentioned 305's but they are a little harder to find. Can I get 32's on it?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

265/70/16 is a 30.6 inch tire. 275/70/16 is about a half inch taller, it should fit

I have a '99 with 32x11.50's. Tires rubbed the fenders when turning, so I ended up having to install a 3.5" lift (OH DARN!) I may be mistaken, but I don't think the '04s have much if any more fender room.

Of course the narrower 10.50's might work if you really wanted 32s without messing with a lift. Sorry, wouldn't know the metric conversions for any of this (that has always confused me )

If you go with 305/70/16 you'll def need a lift and they'll probably rub. Mine rub on the frame when the wheels turn all the way to the right. Even with a lift 285/75/16 are about as big as any manuf's recomend. As for 17's i'd say something like 285/70/17

Yeah, depends on the tire maker. I think Goodyear has these with an outside diameter of 31.8 and BFG 31.7, or vice versa. And they are basically 10.5 wide.

Jkent33, your tire dealer is smoking something. 305's????? 305's are very wide. 285/75's are basically 33x11.5.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 265/75 or 32x10.5 (basically the same thing) unless you get widder/bigger wheels and a lift. And possibly start cutting things.
