Looking for Sub Box Ideas (post your pics here)

guys I know this should probably go to the audio section but since it does apply only to the first gen I thought i would ask here first. mods if this is in the way feel free to move it.

I am wanting pics and ideas for sub box builds.

A buddy of mine's son wants to put a sub in his truck and i was going to help him build one. (ext cab.) What have you guys out there done? he as been wanting to do this for a little over a year and have not been able to find anythign in his budget so i told him i would help him out and build him something but didn't want to re-invent the wheel.

if anyone has any plans or tips that would be great!!

I would love to see your finished product.... and any measurements you many have... how much room is under the drivers seat.. (what have people been able to fit under there.. Largest Dimensions for the amp.?)

When i had my ext. tacoma i just bought a box that was probably 14" tall 24" wide 12" deep and just folded up my rear seats and set it on that ledge. I have found that with sub boxes if you are going to build it out of the wood that it needs to be built out of and seal it, carpet it, port it if your going to, etc. Your almost better off the find a store with cheap boxes and just buy one.

Now that i think about it i have the box that i had in my truck sitting in the garage it holds a single 10" sub. IF you want to see some pics of it ill get you some and we could probably work out some kind of deal. Because i remember those days plus everyone needs subwoofer so send me a PM and let me know.

my amp demensions were 2 1/4" tall by 7 5/8" wide and 14 3/8" long and that easily fit under the seat. i also just put some pictures up of the box's framework i'll keep them coming as i finish it.

Sub box

JL Audio makes a box that fits behind the right rear seat of a 2 gen double cab. It is called a stealthbox, made of fiberglass and already packed with 2 10" JL W1V2 subs. That is what I am looking at for my truck. It is available from cruchfield.com.

if it was my truck no problem.. but he is High School Kid with no Money...
I was planning on building one from MDF (I have built them before.)
i didn't know if any had built on that still allows for two to sit in the back
if not i can measure and make a design that sits on one of the seats.

thanx, the sub should be fine, nobody fits in the back seat of an access cab anyway.

I built this for my 03 double cab. it would work for any taco with a center console. I do this for a living so i went all out, this could be done much simpler.

Thanks, i was really happy with the way it turned out. Also with the way it sounds. Center consoles are a great way to add a sub and not lose space.

I have a '98 access cab and I was planning on fabricating some boxes to house a couple 8 inchers in those little access spaces under the jump seats. I would have to remove the rear window motor and regulator but it would be completely hidden when I got done with it.

Not sure if wildcatriders question was for me. if by baffeling you are talking about a polyfil material, the answer is no. The box measured out to be .72 cubic feet, a little bigger then i expected. That was well within the range for the sub.

Negative, question was for geerts016 which is why I quoted him. Baffling meaning solid boards creating individual chambers for each sub in his box, or is it all one open space inside.

That is sick. You don't happen to make those for others Obviously for $$$ LOL. I have an 04 but that is probably on of the best layouts I have seen and still have a functional backseat area. (gotta have room for the kid and clubs)
