Just replaced one of the climate control bulbs with the factory part on my 2002 Tacoma. There are 3 bulbs, 1 for each of the knobs. The Toyota part number is 90010-05120 and it was $9.74.

Does anyone know if the maps lights should come on when the ignition is off? With the new JDM LEDs the dome light comes on correctly but the map lights only come on if the key is turned.

Also I just learned that the glove box has a light which uses a #74 bulb. Mine has been burned out for so long that I didn't even know it was there.

This is a known issue on first gens with LED bulbs. If you solder in a resister it will work without the key. There are pictures on how to do this somewhere on this forum. The idea is you connect it to the connectors on the ends of the drop in.

Ok thanks. I was thinking the CAN/Bus circuit in the bulb I used would prevent that but I guess not.

I tried a few different bulbs from vendors. Some claiming they had built in resistors to fix the issue but none of them worked. For some first gens they don't have this issue, seems each truck is different.

Yeah I think my '03 is right on the edge. Sometimes it comes up as an '04. I'll look for the post.

The bulbs in your Guage cluster are #194. The bulbs in your climate control panel are, neo T4. The bulb in your shifter, glove box, lighted ignition key ring, ash tray are #74. If you go on superbrightleds.com and enter your truck year it will also give you every bulb# and location that is compatible with your truck. Also shows different style of bulbs and colors options. @TacomaNY

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Does anyone know if the map light bulbs are the same as the dome lights? Also, how do you get to the map lights in these things? The dome was easy, but the map bulbs look like a bigger undertaking to get to.

I tried installing 74's in the A/C panel on my 2000 and they wouldn't fit. They were bigger than the bulbs that I removed. 74's measure .210" wide at the base and the stock bulbs measure .180" wide at the base.

I have searched and googled. I thought the search was over when I found this thread and bought some 74's today. They will not fit all the way in the sockets in the A/C panel.

I finally tracked down the A/C control bulbs on my 2000 Tacoma. Dealer provided me with part 90010-05152. The bulbs came with the green condum for $6.51 each.

Has anyone installed led headlights from superbrightleds.com? Friend of mine recommended leds over hids for headlights. Just wondering bc their website says that they are oversized and to make sure of the dimensions of the housing.

@rybern some LED's bases are larger in size. there is another thread on here with different options.

Retrofit projectors are the best for HID. Never put HID in the stock housings. Also there are a few posts explaining the reason LED headlights are also not as good for stock housings. I had LEDs from VLED and while the "light" was whiter there was no discernible extra road light. The LED position is usually in the wrong spot to take advantage of the reflector angles

It seems that the majority of this is talking about the 1.5 gen tacomas. Does anyone know which bulbs are correct for the earlier style 1997?
Also, I like those climate controls where you guys get to have knobs instead of the oldschool sliders. Might have to look into seeing if there's a known conversion... haha

I know this is resurrecting something sort of old, but I have a 96 Taco with an automatic tranmission. In the cluster there are these TINY bulbs for each position of the shift knob - does anyone know the size?
