budget build or wallet job

Would you guys rather look at, build, or wheel a budget built truck, or a high zoot money machine.

 

I am always in awe of what can be accomplished with huge amounts of disposable income. If I had money, I would love to build something totally over the top. But when I go to a car show and see something that was obviously painted in a garage but still looks "pretty good", I will make a point to compliment the owner on it. Building something yourself will always impress me. Paying someone to build it for you might impress me as well, but only if you know something about it and don't act like a jackass rich guy.

 

I feel like a budget build would give the owner a better sense of ownership and understanding of his/her vehicle. I know I did alot of research before anything after market was put on my truck, whereas if I had all the money in the world I'd simply buy the most expensive high quality looking parts that I could find. Doing a build on a budget makes a vehicle more unique imo.

 

Def makes it more unique, and the creativity seems to blossom more from those who have to figure things out on a budget.

 

yeah x2 on the creativity factor, for instance chevy rims won't be found on a wallet job, BUT i'm sure theres gotta be at least one taco out there rockin em

id rather do a budget+wallet build because id like to go all out on my stuff, but actually do what is worth it. and if you guys all know, this is not a cheapp hobby and need a lot of money to accomplish everything haha

 

Let's hear some reasons why you guys choose the high dollar rigs.

 

well id do the best stuff you can have like fox/king suspension but the best spindles and UCA's possible, just so when i go froading i know that i am safe to try to froad anything.. you catch my drift?

 

So how 'bout if some guy froads with stuff that costs less than half as those spindles and UCAs and shocks w/ resis and like totally froads just as safe and as well as the big spenders? Ya heard?

 

I dont know of cheap spindles really first off, and id feel much more safe with better shocks and everything than half price ones especially when moneys not an option... haha why would you get half off stuff when moneys not an option? especially when you know you already know what youre doing, like the right stuff to actually lift and support hard core off roading. not just a block lift or a spacer lift, thats not right.

 

braah you got it all wrong wheelins about bein one with the truck brah, no need for that pricey shit money dont buy happiness. when i ffroad (oh and i froad HELLAS) i just savor the hard hits and think "oh shit my frames prolly bent now" but then im like "eh gives it character" word brah. word.

I honestly enjoy tinkering with my truck periodically. That's half the fun.

no frame plates for the moment, currently im in the process of my rear susp. set up

 

If I were out west and into racing / chasing the score off road series I would probally want to set up my DD Taco a little different then then If I were an east coast back woods trail guy.

I can't knock the guys who go for the long travel high speed stuff but around here it just isn't what works. We don't have any high speed wide open places trails are tight woods with deep mud and rocks. Spacer lifts and drop bracket lifts will get the job done as bigger tires pull thru deeper holes. Lower air PSI and lockers will make up for some lost travel traction.

I'm building my Budget Taco off of a 6" TM drop bracket kit on 35's but collecting parts to go Sas. Rear is already set up on chevys. So my budget front SAS will just be 3-link + steering / suspension / drive shaft. Hope to keep it under $2k.

 

This is my idea of budget. Collecting parts( the right parts ) as you go and only making the nessesary mods that you need to get the job done. A budget build and a piece of shit aren't the same thing.

 

I dont understand how i could have it all wrong if moneys not a problem here. pricey stuff is obviously better for a reason, not everything is worth the price gap, but if you have the money why wouldnt you get everything the best you possibly can? i have my dignity and no that i only do things that i KNOW is best for the price and i always study things first, but if money wasnt a problem id just get the best for every mod. Dont see the problem with that what so ever

 

If you are still doing it yourself I don't really see a problem either. Most people with that kind of money just hire someone to do everything for them though.

The question ask what would YOU rather look at.

Thus their is no right or wrong answer. Best for you may not be best for me.. Best for me would be custom built 9" front and rear 4-linked caged and detroit on some BFG red Lables.

But Money no object ~ I'll take two of everything.


I'd rather check out budget builds cause that is where I get the best info and ideias for my build ~ Wallet jobs are more like porn...
