Can anyone tell me how to disable the alarm that sounds when I leave the key in the ignition and open the drivers door?
My truck is an '01 Tacoma S-Runner.
I don't want to disable the seat belt alarm and I do want the over head light to come on when I open the door but I like to leave my key in the ignition occassionally and the alarm is driving me crazy. (And it is a very short drive.)

This should work for you. I have an '03, so I think it might be the same as your truck.....

Pull off the lower part of the dash under the ignition. You should see a little white connector going to the switch with only two wires on it. This connector is attached to the ignition switch. Disconnect that thing and you should be good. Just don't forget to take your keys out before locking!

Also if you have to sell it, all you have to do is reconnect the plug....

Thanks a million. My '01 was exactly as you described your '03 to be.
I am once again back on the road to sanity.
    Thanks again.
