I am looking at a 2000 Tacoma TRD with 108,000 miles. It is a five speed with a brush guard, hella lights, and a ARE cap. He is the original owner, it was purchased in Indiana then moved to California for a few years then Colorado. He Just moved to wisconsin. He is asking $9,000, i was thinking 8k - what do you guys think?

    Merry Christmas!

It is 4x4, and a Extended cab. He took it off craigslist for me, I was just having second thoughts on getting a tacoma. I am going to get it, just dont know if 8k is fair market value or a steal.

    Thanks

    I just bought a 2000 Prerunner (it is not a 4x4) with 105,000 miles.

He was the second owner, clean CARFAX, not a dent or deep scratch to be found.

    Paid $7,000

Plus he just had the timing belt and water pump replaced.

If the above repair has not been done then you are looking at an additional $7-900.00 on top of your purchase price.

There isn't any rust that I can see he is taking it in to get a full inspection, and the timing belt and water pump have been replaced.

Dude thats a pretty good deal. Tell us more about it though...you check the frame for rust? Timing belt/water pump maintenance? Body/interior condition? I once almost purchased the same truck without all the aftermarket stuff with 125k for $9.5k. And the body was pretty dinged. I say offer him $8,500 and feel good about it when he accepts.

From what I could tell the frame had NO rust, but that is why he is getting it inspected for me. The interior is flawless minor dog hair is really the only negative. He left the window on the shell open and backed out the garage. It only broke the hinges. He said its about $200 for a new window and all.

I think around $8,000 is a fair deal for both parties. $9k is too much. Anything less that $8k for that truck would be a good deal, IMO.

I've got a few extra carfax inquiries left to use from when I purchased mine a few weeks ago. If you need one send me the VIN and I'll run it. Also, if you don't want the ARE cap I would be interested in it.

Try 8K--see what he says--Make sure it is not BEAT TO HELL. BE sure to drive or have someone who knows about that year truck advise you. LEAKS-everything work?
Need tires--another big expense. GOOD LUCK.
