open firewall port?

Where is there a good open firewall port? The only one that I even found already had a ton of wires running through it. Is it safe to run a couple more wires through that?

 

The best fire wall port, and if you are using it for a sound system. Its right under the steering wheel somewhat towards the center console. (6-10 inches above the brake pedal- my best guess)

Im not at my truck or else i could take some photos for you, but when I put my system in it was closed with a rubber surround and i made a slit and sent the wire through.

I'd stick to that one because like mine, yours should be empty as well and it gives you great access to your battery and avoids high heat areas. let me know if this helps!

 

I thought this thread was about opening a firewall port on a router or network. hahaha

As far as the truck goes you should be able to snake a couple of wires through the driver side port. I have a couple of 8 gauge wires running through mine for a power inverter.

i just made my own by drilling a hole right next to main one instead of trying to stuff a bunch of wires through it.

 

Holy crap, I was literally JUST thinking about this today, and wondering the same thing! Anyone know how the port prevents fire from passing?
