4wd or 2wd w/chains to tahoe

Headin up to tahoe next week and cant decide what to take: my taco with a/t's and chains or my dads dodge ram with 4wd. any opinions?

Take the 4x4. Then if the weather get's Bad then you can put chains on the 4x4!

 

i was thinkin 4x4 but it wont have chains. and plus its more gas which is why i thot bout takin my taco

 

Chains suck ass. If you can at all use the 4x4. Its going to be cold dirty snowy, and its much easier to flip a switch then it is to put on chains. Dont do it, it sucks really--its not worth the gas or any other reason.

 

if its not supposed to be snowing take the 2wd

if there isnt any snow on the ground where they tell you to chain up, tell em its 4wd.

ive rarely chain up and my 2 most recent trucks for the last 3 years have been 2wds.

 

Chains can get you out of some really bad situations....but like others say they make you earn it. IIWY and I was stuck on the idea of taking the tacoma I'd take cables and put sand bags in the back. You dont really need chains on top of bladed snow....and yes cables are easier to deal with.

 

Take a coffee can to poop in if you take the 2wd.

 

you need that even if your in a 4wd 50 sucks in the snow

Theres no snow in the forecast until Wednesday. If you go home before then, you should be fine. I just went to Big Bear a few weekends back and all the roads were clean and dry. The only issue I saw with a 2wd tacoma that was in the cabin next to us was them trying to get out of their snowy driveway. They struggled a little bit, but eventually got out.

 

so my buddy just brought over some cables he found in his garage and they are 31x11.5r15. my tires are 31x10.5r15. think that inch will make a difference? im gonna put them on tomorrow and see how much slack there is but wanted to see what you guys. as much as i dont wanna run cables this will save me some money
