Finally did it! I installed a True trac in my 04 Prerunner Thursday night. It took about 3 1/2 hours using the online service manual as a guide. It works just like they say...seemless engagement and you don't notice it's there. It does leave a nice double burnout in the gravel :bananadance: Actually the install guide tells you to test it in gravel. One tire at a time on gravel with the other on pavement. I just threw that test in for poops and grins.

I have mixed feelings about testing it in snow since I hate winter but we'll see.

You want to see a pic of my rear end? It doesn't look quite like the one in your avatar. It looks like a differential. It doesn't change the look of it.

I'll see if I can figure out how to get pics posted of the truck later on today. Nothing spectacualr except 25000 miles so it's pretty clean.

Did you get your old bearings off OK and did use them and any other old parts you could?

I was going to use any old parts if they looked OK. My 03, 4 cyl, 4x4 has 64k miles on it.

I found one for $406 on ebay. How much did you find one for and who did you get it from?

I'm wanting to get one for mine.

I gave 375 for it but that was almost 2 years ago. The only parts needed would be the bearings and I would just press new ones on for as cheap as they are. You don't want any problems there even if the old ones look "good."
