Value of a 95 4x4 xtra cab manual? (75k miles)

hi guys awesome site. hopefully ill be using it more if i can pull the trigger on the truck im looking at. before i do tho i have a question.

what do you think a fair price is for a 1995 4x4 xtra cab with manual transmission and 75K miles? cars in good shape, only one owner, no mods (might be a bit lifted, couldnt tell) its at a ford dealership and the price they are listing it for is outragous imho. i know these cars hold their value well, but this is a 16 year old car. there is some frame rust but no holes, i tapped on it with the hammer and nothing broke away or punched through, so it may all be surface rust. just wondering what you think its worth. if this is the wrong forum feel free to move it, i thought i had it rite. thanks!

Im thinking in the $6K range. Unfortunately it would be hard to find one cheaper.

the guy said 8000 firm. i said i wouldnt pay 8000 for a sixteen year old flying car. they dont know tacomas that well, but they do know they can sell them to columbia. its a nice car its just not 8000 dollars or am i wrong?

I would say just just make sure rust is surface rust. Toyota bought back my 97 with about same millage because of rust, but they gave me 150% dealer Kelly blue book value. I got 10,500 for it. So if it's in good shape, that's at least an idea of what dealers sell it for. When I was there, I heard the manager say they probably would have given me 3500 for a regular trade in. They are BASTARDS, but can't complain about the buy back program.

Its a 2.7 4 cylinder

 

I just paid $7,650 for a '97 with 140k. Exact same body style. Mine does have the 3.4L V6, which is desireable to some but the 2.7L is a great motor as well and probably easier to work on since it is smaller. 75k is extremely low miles. The rust is concerning, so I would check further into that. But, if it is in great shape, unfortunately for you I would say 8k is probably fair in my opinion just based on the mileage.

 

Does the dealership have a picture of it? my 93 had the 2.7 4 cylinder. if that is the case, no way in hell would I pay 8k for it. maybe 3-4k

 

For the 2.7L I'd say $8k is too much. Honestly, though, if it was the V6, I would've said good deal.

Hassle them on the frame rust issue

No way I would pay 8k for a truck that old. Even if the mileage is low, it's still 16 years old. Rust, corrosion, dry-rot, etc...not worth more than 3-4k to me.

 

I thought about it today, and I retract my statement earlier. I'd actually be somewhat weary of a 16 year old truck with less than 5,000 miles a year. Most people do maintenance based on mileage, and forget that parts/fluids fail over time, too.

My '95.5 had all its maintenance records. Hard to find that nowadays, though.
