need help on disturbing sound

tw gurus, i need your help. i just noticed a distubring sound last night from my taco. it's a 4x2 double cab 4cyl (32in tires, 5100's at 2.75). at first, when i hit a bump on the left front wheel, i hear a rattling sound. almost the same sound as a bad ball joint. then when i got home, i took it for another spin, and now it seems that the sound is affected by the right front wheel as well. i jacked up the truck and checked for wheel play but there was none. now it seems that the rattling sound is coming from the front center of the truck. take note that there's no steering feedback whenever i hit a bump and hear a sound. and the sound does not come out on speed bumps. just on small crevices on the road. hope someone can shed a light on this or someone had the same experience.

Need a little better definition of your "rattling" sound, i.e; Clunk sound like a bad swaybar bushing, etc.

 

I'll go try to torque evyrything down. The rattling sound is somewhat like a "tigidig tigidig" kind of sound whenever I hit a crevice on the road. Is it common to have a bad sway bar bushing or a steering rack bushing. I don't go off road. Just a daily driver.

 

The sound you are describing might be your shocks... Make sure they are tight

 

Have this same issue; but its in the front left tire wheel well. Go over little bumps and un even pavement and get this soft rattling sound. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Going to the dealership thursday

 

it's not the shocks. they are new and the bolts are tight. i tried to tighten everything every bolt and found one issue. when i was tightening one of the stabilizer links, one bolt just goes on and on. it's not loose but it does not tighten. i tried the one on the other side and it is tight. could it be the one? how do you know if a stabilizer link is bad?

 

On a sway bar end link for a 1st gen, there is a slotted area on the end link shaft where you can hold it with a wrench and tighten down the link nut/bolt.

Lower ball joint bolts tight??,,no slop in ball joints??

Do you have metal push-in centercaps on your wheels?? if so those could be rattleing.

 

i'll try to tighten up the bolts again on the sway bar end link.

lower ball joints are okay. and i don't have push in centercaps too.
