$900 Service

Stopped in to my local dealership to get some info on having my frame coated and checked out some pricing.

The service manager quoted me all the prices I asked for and offered to do them at the same time as the frame spray. He said they would need the truck for two days and that I would be given an Enterprise rental free of charge until it was done.

My truck is an '04 V6 TRD Dbl Cab 4x4 Limited with 88K Miles

The services are:

Timing belt and all other belts.
Water pump and thermostat
Oil change and filter.
Coolant flush and fill (they flush the entire system, not just the radiator)
Transmission clean and fluid.
Front and rear differential fluids.
Transfer case fluid.

What do you all think?

I know I could do a lot of that myself and save some coin, but for one, I don't have a garage and it's snowy and cold. And two, I have more coin than time, not the other way around.

 

Is that parts and labor?

That's all parts and labor and out the door. Plus it would all be done while I had a rental for the frame spray.

Their shop is huge and amazing, the guy walked me through it and told all kinds of "Toyota School" stories about certifications and what not.

I got a real good vibe from the guy as he told me straight out " If you want a bunch of services, I can work with you, there's room there".

I liked his approach, wasn't pushy and was very thorough with attention to detail.

He also made sure that I had a copy of all prices with his offered discount before I left in case he wasn't there when I decide to pull the trigger.

 

Sounds like a good deal to me.

If the price is right, do it. Just question the time to do it? 2 days sounds like BS. Not saying it is, just sounds a little unrealistic to me.

I think I read that the dealer keeps the truck for a day for the frame coating to dry before giving it back. They'll probably do everything in one day, but keep it a second day for the coating to dry.

 

Yeah, its two days just for the spray, and I get the rental.

The good deal is if I get all those services at the same time.

 

FWIW, I paid about that price to have an indy mechanic do those services. He used all genuine Toyota parts too. If you ever sell your truck, its nice to have that sticker they put on that shows when the timing belt was replaced and a Toyota invoice.

 

Glad to see there are still dealerships that are willing to take care of customers, for a fair price.

 

That is a great price as I was quoted by my local dealer $1100 just for the timing belt!
I did it myself eventually and spent the savings elsewhere.

 

I'm gonna see what the extra will cost to do the plugs and wires while I'm at it.

May as well do it all in one fell swoop!

 

Yeah man hell of a deal it's over $1000 for just the timing belt at most places.
