Behind the cluster the lights have orange condoms, so changing the bulb will change the color. The temp contols on the other hand are painted on the back side of the faceplate. That, on top of the 01-04 freakshow bulbs, makes changing the temp control color very difficult.

Its so red in my truck that the variance between the orange and red is neglible.. all I know is you gotta scratch that orange shit off somehow and the reason you guys can't fine the bulb is because its not a drop in bulb like the 194 if you take the bulb out you'll notice that the light has 2 long prongs bent around the plastic carrier.
I haven't given much of a shit to actually find the bulb that fits because I'm too lazy to scratch off that orange paint stuff
Also the way its designed it has these light channels to illuminate the AC and recirculation buttons and would affect the light output and make it a little uneven.. that is if your super OCD about it if not don't worry about it

ahh, but you can buy a 4runner ac panel, it's the same but without the orange.

then you can paint the back of it blue, or use some blue tape, or get condoms for the lights.

it is tinted slightly, I took mine out, and pulled off the condoms on the lights, and it came through as a peach color, but blue lights would prob overpower the peach color pretty easy..

    Really?
I took my cluster bulbs out and put in some white multi-direction leds and the cluster lights up white as snow.

I wonder if maybe the bulbs had gotten a bit orange or something.

I'll find some 5x wide high powered LED's, when the spring hits so I don't break plastic parts.

yes do get the 4 runner panel, apparently they are about 40 bucks from the dealer, do your research on the year you need, I forget.

The 01 has the same instrument cluster as the 03 right? If so you'll have no problems
