Toyota puts it on most if not all of their vehicles. It's bedliner under paint. The paint chips off, but doesn't go to bare metal as easily.

I have done some repair on rocker panels like that. The dent is too deep to fix without filler, so you have two choices, either grind it to metal, then drill and use a dent puller, or get one of those tools that can weld small pinpoints onto the metal for pulling it out before using any body filler.

The most common location for rock chips, is the rocker panel. To reduce heavy damage the area is pre-protected, and has an additional layer of thick clear coat on top. that is what causes the "orange peel" finish. I am not sure if there is an actual bedliner finish underneath it though. Would be interesting to have a body shop confirm this. I hadn't thought of that possibility, because it didn't really seem thick enough.

Forgot to post my additions to my truck. Finished up this the other day. Light bar is almost exactly the way I wanted it. I had hoped that it would have swung a full 90 degrees down. but even here, it is well protected from rocks on the highway. These LED bars are too expensive to risk damage.

Nice aftermarket coating. I will assume the factory does it the same way.

Thanks. It was the only system that allowed me to rotate the bar easily so that the LED bar was safe from rocks on the highway. Back when I had my other truck, and the KCs, I would replace one lens a year minimum. I don't want to replace a 32 inch bar. Too expensive. lol.

I picked up my coil overs used off ttora for $400 or you could buy new coil overs from $800-$1200. King, icon, sway a way, fox. All really good coil overs

    Look at build!
Shouldn't be much of an issue with the light bars, most come with the lexan or whatever it is nowadays so it should be fine against rock and there are companies that have colored covers for them like yellow.. the rest are dumb colors that are completely illegal for use but whatever.. but they do have clear ones too.. I ran both my lightbars with glass lenses on my front bumper for a year or so and never had an issue with them or my hellas that are currently on my bumper

It's added protection under the paint that Toyota added. It's for rock chips.

Oh hai! Looks like I should have heeded the advice of a wise man. Have to pull the door panels back off and cut the fastener holes bigger. They are starting to let go, here and there.

Took this video of my carrier bearing. I think it has too much play, or is this right? I'm having a really loud clunking noise from under the truck when the rear end gains traction after sliding a little. I pushed and pulled everything under the truck and this was really the only play I could find. I pushed the transfer case up and the rubber on the mounts did have about 1/4" of okay as well.

I wanna say it was around 100$. I know, a little pricey, but I really like it. It adds 2 more cup holders and looks better IMO. The leather looks much better. Plus I had holes in my old one from drilling into it.
