This is what happened to the truck. I need to straighten the frame, new bumper, grill, radiator, and possible fender.

Replaced CV boots and seals

Seems like the general consensus is that folks just get the remanufactured front axles instead of taking the time to mess around with replacing the boots.

I had never removed the front axles before or taken one apart so I figured i would learn a fair bit by doing it myself. The original axles only have ~ 37 k miles on them so no need to replace but the boots are almost 12 years old so new grease and boots it was.
What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition-up_on_blocks.jpg

I used Toyota's boot replacement kit which comes with the two kinds of grease, the boot clamps and the boots obviously.
What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition-boot_kit.jpg

The tool at the top is used to crimp the boot clamps. The OEM boot clamp for the inner boot is a total PITA so I ended up using a Dorman Spedi-Boot kit which worked great.

Depends on where you live (how much rust) but figure about 2 hours give or take. Someone that's done it a few times probably faster.
