I've gone through the gamut of wiper blades. I used to have a Legacy GT and posted on a Legacy forum extensively as well.

I've had many discussions about them. As expected there are many "fanboys" of certain brands or ones that swear that the most expensive are the way to go - because we love spending money on our vehicles.

I've tried everything from Bosch Icons and other insanely priced wiper blades. Here's my opinion:

In Colorado wiper blades don't last longer than 8 months or so. The winters (especially if you drive into the mountains a lot) are harsh on them and the UV intensity in summer kills them. So I opted to try the Goodyear Assurance wiper blades sold at Costco just for economical reasons. They normally cost $7.99 per blade. (They're on sale for $4.99 a blade right now)

These blades perform as well, if not better, than any blade I've ever tried. Including the Bosch Icons, Rain-X, etc. And at $7.99 a pop, I don't feel violated when I replace them once or twice a year.

FWIW: Bosch Icons can suck the sweat off the back of my ball bag.

Once temperatures dipped below 35* I might as well have had granite wiper blades. They were/are utterly useless in freezing temps - which made driving in hellacious winter conditions in the mountains ridiculous.

Lastly, you can upsize the wiper blades over the 17" recommended stock. You can get 19" for the driver's side and 18" for the passenger side. Makes for a larger sweep.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Nice! I just replaced mine this last winter (they tore in the snowpocolypse). I think I'll try your upsize idea. It's a cheap risk.

No, but my plastic bedliner doesn't go over the rails. Some do. I want to get rid of the stupid plastic and have it Line-x'd eventually.

Yeah, it's not going to be cheap to have it professionally done unless you know somebody personally haha some people have gotten it done for about $300.

Granted they suck in winter... but the OEM Toyota blades have out lasted and performed better than any of the Bosh, Rainex, etc blades I've had... and nice thing is you buy the whole thing once, then just the blade insert from then on out...

My GF, bless her heart, hadn't changed her blades in 4 years out here. She might as well have had used baby diapers for blades, with the amount of streaking and smearing going on.

This past weekend I detailed the outside, inside, weatherstripping, etc of her car and threw on the Goodyear blades from Costco (26" and 17"). She just got done driving through an insane thunderstorm with torrential rain to get to the airport. She just texted "thank god for those wiper blades"

    :)

But can they survive a Phoenix summer? 0% humity and 110°+ temps. Doesn't matter which brand I have tried, they are only good for one summer. Must replace at the first sign of monsoon season.

They'll last longer if they're in the shade, and if you use your wipers (with fluid) more often.

Nah, they last longer if they're frozen solid and you use them and deicing fluid to scrape the snow and ice off of your frozen windshield:cool:
