I also take a mouse sander or simple sandpaper and sand everything before painting. The rough surface allows the paint to adhere.

I can't really say too much on comfort. I just installed it last night. Haven't even driven around the block with the new seat. I just sat in it for about 2minutes. It doesn't seem too bad so far. It does raise you about a half an inch or so which for me is kind ofa problem. I'mreally tall and fat haha so I'll hafta okay around with it a bit too find a good comfortable spot.

JLee, what spots have you notice wear n tear? It is true as far as the sliding forward bit. There's hardly any room to even reach behind the seat anymore. Not too much of an issue for me though. Nobody would ever sit behind me.

Another thing to consider with any of these seats is that they do offer the inflatable lumbar support to be added on as well as even seat warmers.

Basically but I skip the degreaser unless the part was oiled for shipping.

What I do is thoroughly sand then wipe the part down with a rag...then the time consuming part comes in.

I typically use 3 coats of primer and at least 4 coats of paint. Each coat is very thin and it usually takes 2 coats to completely cover the part. I also wait 30 minutes between coats by setting the alarm on my phone. With that, figure total time needed to paint around 3-4 hours.

The pause between coats allows the paint to partially dry so as to prevent runs but still allows each coat to fully adhere to the previous layer. This is what I did with my sliders and finished with a mostly flawless (I did have a few runs) finish. I've dragged them through rocks and have chipped the paint exposing the primer but the overall finish and wear is every bit as good as powdercoating.

To add to his excellent advice, be sure to use self-etching primer on the bare metal. It makes for better mechanical adhesion.

what Jerry from BAMF told me to do is spray it with brake cleaner and then hit it with self etching primer. I like to scuff my stuff up as well but there are always areas you can't fully get to.

Sorry, i would wipe it off but brake cleaner basically evaporates5 seconds after you spray it.. IMO after you get the grease/dirt off with a solvent i wouldn't use water to wash it.

Id make sure to use a rag or paper towels that won't leave any fuzzy stuff behind.

For a bumper, I'd also recommend using wire to hang it from the garage rafters for even coverage.

Has anyone seen a bed rack that drops below the bedside rails on the inside of the bed?
