My mechanic says a high output alternator is bad for breaking in a new engine? Can anyone confirm this?

Replaced both lower ball joints with OEM replacements, fairly easy simple job. Went quicker than expected.

My power steering wasn't working so I pulled apart the pump. Spent $12 on a rebuild kit that did nothing. Now I need a new rack I guess.

What's a great deal? I might buy a used one since I'm still not sure that's the problem, and I hate shot gunning hundreds of dollars at my truck if I don't need to.

No. I'm not losing any fluid, just don't have power steering at low rpm.

You bleed it after rebuilding the pump? I don't know if you have the FSM but the process is outlined on page SR-4.

Is there foaming in the PS pump reservoir?

Yep and it feels the same as before.

The one thing that shocked me was when I drained the fluid, it was almost black. No hint of red. I'm not the original owner so I don't know what was put in or if it was ever flushed.

Sounds like it had never been flushed. Never heard of ATF being anything other than red.

Might be worth taking it to a garage and having them check the pressure coming off the pump.

I've done a mod or two
They are pretty smooth, much better than my dead old stock equipment. Are you still thinking of getting replacements while your coilovers are being rebuilt?

The 3 degree shim in the rear also seems to have made the pinion angle perfect for my lift.

Helped my brother move into his new house. We loaded up the truck from the storage unit and by "man code" we were not going to make a second trip.[IMG]
