Actually he just took the chunk of floor he cut out and split it and then cut a hole in it so it just wrapped around the tube and welded it back in

I have a similar thud/thump ever since I put the new suspension on. Only in the rear. Almost sounds like the spare tire assembly is loose but I've checked everything.

My only hope is that it is the CB or u joints.

All is not lost, IMO. Add some more tubing, gussets, and these

Got a gopro? Stick that on the undercarriage and you'd be surprised how much crap moves around

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

This^ also he built it out of 4130 and assuming he built it in the truck and didn't remove it for normalization heat treat the HAZ from the welds on 4130 can make the tube brittle without a post heat treat.

Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
I had a similar banging noise that turned out to be my sliders hitting the cab pinch weld. Even though there was 1/8"-1/2" gap, the body bushing were allowing enough body roll to contact the sliders. I bent the pinch welds out of the way and noise went away.

I've also found that my plastic drop-in bedliner is loose and can bang around. Drives me nuts but I deal with it.

My pinch welds self-cleared after a couple of wheeling trips.

My noise almost sounds like the nitro shocks are topping out or something. But I don't think that's possible.

You might be hearing the shock at full extension. There is more up travel than down travel. I remember the shocks being a bit short at full droop.
My truck always felt funny after the lift just pulling in and out of the driveway, in the rear. Felt almost like I was lifting a wheel.

I did a poor mans relocation of the top mount and dropped them down about 2", seemed to help a lot with articulation. and the wonky feeling/noises went away.

Except you'll probably be bottoming them out now if you moved them down 2". Which is worse then over extending them.

But that depends on how much you wheel and flex

On that transmission fluid - are you just going to drain it via the plug and then refill, or some other thing? I am thinking of doing the same to my Camry and possibly my Taco. I am about to replace the drive shafts on the Camry and thinking might as well change the tranny fluid, as it has 177k on it.

Sweet. I recall the dealer one time saying something about avoid a tranny flush as it causes the seals and such to leak. I didn't pursue it further with them.

True, but its still better than no cage at all.

Lame. we no friends no mo?

I agree with everything that's been pointed out about that cage. No triangulation, no gussets, collapse points, no frame tie-ins, yada yada. It's all true. I'm just saying that if he rolls the truck over, that cage will collapse I'm sure but it could slow the rate of the collapse enough to not break his neck. Clearly it is poorly designed cage, I'm not arguing that or trying to say it's fine. I guess I forgot that I shouldn't be looking for the positive side of anything. :( I'll go back to being pissy and web wheeling. ;)

I remember looking at that. But I'm not going over large bumps that would cause a lot of down travel.

It's more of short jarring bumps when I'm driving 25 mph. Hitting a pot hole or a similar bump causes the noise in the rear. I've taken everything out of the bed, took the topper off and it still makes the noise.

    I'm lost.

A block heater while living in an apartment wont do me any good. The garage we have doesnt even have a light bulb more less an outlet to plug anything in.

more pictures of my front suspension setup. like i said yesterday im going to go to a mid travel all around and get some UCA's for the front.

but before i do that, i have to get rid of this horrible cancer. its all in the rear but thats just what i can see. getting 1/4 inch steel to fix the rust, if im going to do it im going to over do it i guess, then rhino line it to protect it from happening again
