tiny circles, go nice and slow, visualize the weld pool and think about where it is in relation to the joint you are welding.

Get an auto darkening helmet if you dont already have one...great piece of equipment to have.

Dont even bother starting the project without laying down like 10 solid practice beads on the same material you are building it out of. Otherwise you just ask for it to start rusting and not being structurally sound.

Im assuming MIG so keep it slow, some people like small circles, some like back and for lines, some like half moons. All preference IMO. For you( new at it im assuming) I would say circles of the same size(small) keep it close to you to keep your hands steady and go at a nice slow and steady pace. Set you wire speed and volts(amps w/e) to whatever your welder says for that gauge of metal.

I would definately get an auto helmet, best things ever!

The girlfriend and I are ok. Still jittery just happened literally 30 mins ago but are ok the taco took the hit like a champ. I'm glad I had my rear bumper as that took all the hit. It pushed it into my truck and messed up the bed side a little but nothing bad. If I decide to high clearance the bed it will totally take care of the bedside damage.
Probably should have. I'm pretty sure he had been drinking some. The cop didn't breathalyze him so I'll never know.

Well of course! I've got a couple pics I'll post.
Yeah bumper took most of the hit. Actually settled with the guy on spot. He didn't want to turn it into insurance and he made me a cash offer. Walked away $1000 richer. With the minimal damage I have I came out on top.

Agreed Welding with a shitty helmet is like using pinecones as toilet paper. Tedious:p

Install was really easy, just put the two bars on the sides, then put that front piece in and tighten it down. I was really pleased with it. Thanks again I really like it. :D

I really appreciate that especially coming from a guy with a truck as nice as yours

I really appreciate it, wish we had some more time, to talk about our trucks. Your truck is clean!!! and I cannot believe the miles on yours, unbelievably low.
