1st Gen Tacoma-16" wheel or 15" wheel?

I am looking for a set of aftermarket wheels for my 1995 Tacoma.
It seems that the selection in 15 X 8 wheels is limited.
There shouldn't be a problem going up to 16 X 8 wheel should there?

no problems, I did it. Only thing to worry about is your speed may be off.

well you can compensate for a bigger rim by getting slightly smaller tires so the overall diameter is similar to stock. Or most people just go slightly larger because it looks better.
Find the rim style you like and run them!

I put 16's on mine, no problems at all. They will be a little bit heavier. Honestly thought, 15" wheels are much cheaper as well as tires. I would go with a 32x11.50's and a 15" rim. Much cheaper than going 16" and a 265/75. Only reason I went 16" is because I got a hell of a deal.

And the speedometer has more to do with the tire size rather than the wheel size.

^^^ this was my thought-process as well. I just picked up some 15x8 eagle alloy series 100s (love 'em!) because i wanted to set myself up for a bigger tire in the future, but didn't want to step up to 16 in. tire prices.
