I just inherited my Mom's Tacoma.
It is very sentimental to me, and need a little work.
Has about 90k miles came from a cold snowy area I live in a hot desert
Not sure of any maintenance done so what should I do?
    Things I have done already:
changed the oil to Mobil 1 10w 30 (5qt per manual) with a mobil 1 filter
Changed the air filter (auto zone brand)
    changed some dead fuses
Disconnected the tail gate light for the hitch (had a short and keep blowing the tail lights)
Had it completely detailed by a detail shop.

Note: while changing the oil I spilled a half quart all over the motor (been a long time since I've done my own work) I cleaned it as much as I could, will this cause any damage?

What else should I consider doing ? Any recalls I should know about?
The brakes do a weird jolt right before I come to a complete stop, however the brakes look fine. Does my truck have abs? because the abs fuse is completely missing?

also there is a little water coming out the tail pipe could it be because it came from a snowy area? or a head gasket cracked head etc?
Lastly I noticed a little crack-age in the belts. (that's on my weekend list)

    Thanks

that "weird jolt" could be a leaking axle seal. i had my rear driver's side seal go on me a month and a half ago. it felt like the brakes would grab right before i came to a stop. really annoying.

there's a frame recall on first-gen tacomas. you'll want to get that checked out. if yours fails the inspection you'll be qualified for a frame replacement. do a search -- there are a ton of threads on the topic.

Welcome to TW from snowy Ma. A little water (condensation) out the tail pipe is normal.

At 90k you might want to think about changing the timing belt and water pump

like above said, consider changing timing belt. make sure all fluids are topped off, some oil spilled on the motor will do no damage, and water out of the tailpipe is normal for everyone( as said above)

my truck did the same thing with the jolt... axle seal was bad. i changed the wheel bearing and everything when i did mine because you have to take it all apart to get to the seal... if it is a bad seal check the shoes and drums because mine were caked in grease. if the case you will need to change also. once the grease seeps in there done. good luck. also its not a easy job i had to torch out my wheel bearing.

Congrats on the new Tacoma, and welcome to TW. Hope everything works out for you. Even if this was to somehow become a money pit, I full well understand sentimental reasons to keep a vehicle!

I personally changed all my fluids when I bought my Tacoma (although it had 180k miles). I just figured for the price, I might as well make sure everything was new and good. I did a coolant flush and diff. fluid replacement in addition to the fluids mentioned already. Also, its PROBABLY a given, but have your battery tested. The last thing you want is it failing on you. Are the tires still good?

Then, there's Seafoam. Some people consider it snake oil -- I liked it personally. Do a quick search and you'll get more information than you could possibly ask for.

    Schedule a frame inspection asap.

there is a couple recalls you could have done. there is the lower ball joint recall and also the anti rust proofing frame spray since it spend its life in a snowy region the frame spray may be a good idea up to you though. oh and dont worry about the spilled oil thats just added undercoating. another thing you could do is change out the fuel filter if you havent already. i hope i could help.
