First CB radio Midland, Cobra, or Uniden?

I want to get a cb and install it in the ashtray like I've seen others do but I can't decide on which model. Any suggestions? Also, will I be able to hear it well enough if its in where the ashtray was?

 

If you have a single DIN head unit you can fit one of these: Cobra 18WXSTII below your unit. I cut out and fit a scanner where my ashtray was. And the Cobra 18 has the front firing speaker.

 

i have the midlan 1001z or something like that and it fits and sounds fine, and nice and flush, check out build page for pics of it. just be sure to put the 90* coax connector on the back.

 

Thats what i got too. and get the good wire too like the stuff that has a copper coating on the outside, it works so much better than the cheap stuff from radio Shack.

 

I have the Uniden 520 in the ash tray location and it is plenty loud.

 

I love the Cobra Night style one. To big to fit in the ash try, but there is plenty other locations to mount it!

 

i havent installed anything yet, but i got the cobra 19 Ultra III. I got a 4' firestik antenna and a radio shack 100w powerhorn for the PA output. ill post results when i finally get to it...
