So as the title states, my alternator is going bad. I was looking at replacement Denso's but I read the TRD's have a 130 amp and the regular Taco's have a 90-100 amp alternator. Is this right? If so can I just buy a TRD 130 amp alternator and it will work? Or just buy the replacement at Autozone? I have 2 Hellas, 2 auxillary reverse lights two blue leds in the grille and a 12" kicker l5 and I am planing on a few extra offroad lights later on. So will the replacement alternator be enough? Or get the TRD 130 amp, or something better? Nothing over $200-$250.

Okay after thinking about the "big three wiring upgrade" I decided to keep it stock. And now I think Im going to just sell my current system (amp and sub with box) and just buy some really good door speakers. I rather keep my hearing as long as I can and my ears just ring with my setup now. So I think its time to be "smart" and not try to look cool. So, will the tow package alternator be okay? I was looking at the GM upgrade, but I dont know if that would require doing the big three ugrade because honestly, Im scared to do that and have something mess up and the wires overheat and catch fire and bye bye Taco.. :( So, any ideas for alternator upgrades please!? :D

Thanks I have looked at mean green's before but I dont have that kinda cash right now. But if I can buy alil bit higher amp alternator for under $200 would I have to upgrade the wiring? Or will it be fine? I plan on running 4 hella 500 2 with hid, two auxillary reverse lights, and maybe 4 more lights. They wont all be on while Im offroading, mainly just my headlights and 4 hellas. But if I HAVE to upgrade the wiring, I will.

what you really should do is find someone who can rebuild starters and alternators and get them to rebuild your stocker for more amps.

I read that the alternator will get alot hotter though because the stock caseing is so small. I think Im just going to say screw it and buy a tow package replacement and do more research on the big three wiring upgrade.
