Okay so while the truck was parked in the garage, I put the truck into neutral by means of pushing down the shift lock. Then pushed it back up to Park via shift lock after I was done examining the U joints..

Now I've noticed that the orange indicator no longer matches up for the various gears. In fact, I was driving in 2nd gear when I thought I was in D. Between Neutral and Drive, there seems to be two indents. What the hell did I do?

maybe if you repeat the shift lock maneuver and match up the shifter with the orange thing, then turn the truck on? :notsure: that might make it stay the right way...
then again, i ain't sure if the truck will start if it's not in "park". i haven't heard of this happening before

You can adjust the orange mark on the shifter lever. It's just a 12mm or 14mm nut that you can see holding 2 levers together on drivers side of trans.

Okay found out more about the issue.. the issue seems to be that I can shift From d to 2nd without pressing the shifter button(but the orange indicator is on d).. from d to n and from d to 2nd it feels like a 1/2 or 3/4 indent as opposed to the full indent... after shifting from d to 2nd without pressing ths shifter button, if then I press the button and shift down, I get into the actual position for the 2nd gear(where the orange indicator also lines up) any idea what's causing this?
