hey guys, looking at putting dakars on the rear with a daystar 1.25 shackle did any of you guys have to shim the back at all, that and any of you guys running 5125s on the rear. if so what length did you go with.
    thanks

Interesting, I have a + and a O on my dakar packs. The + is on the driver side and the O is passenger.

    It is my understanding that.....

A + indicates a pack slightly over spec
    A 0 indicates a pack at spec
A - indicates a pack slightly under spec

So the one with the highest spec goes on the driver side, and lower goes on passenger.

    O= Driver

    -= Passenger

EDIT: Just went outside and checked. A = driver side B = Passenger

    Thanks for the response mainmoe02!
So going the route of leafs and shackles should I get some tappred axle shims to avoid vibs? The blocks on it now are tapered and it drives pretty smooth aside from my lug centric rims wobbling around. If ya think its needed what angle shim should I go with?

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
Axle relocation plates for sure if your going with dakars with the AAL. Then maybe a 3* shim but I'm not positive on that, it's just a guess unless you do the math to find the correct angle

This thread has so much good info. I just finished skimming through 86 pages and I feel like I have a good grasp on what this lift kit is all about. I'm finally ready to start installing a quality suspension kit.

Seems like most of you are running either 882's or 883's. However I haven't seen much on the 881's. I have an 01 double cab 4x4 all stock. If I put the 881's on with a top plate spacer an AAL paired with my stock leafs, should I sit right around level?

Of course down the road after market bumpers and possibly a snugtop will be something i'm interested in, the budget doesn't have room for the time being. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get there. In the end I want to sit level with maybe a little bit of rake running 285/75/R16's.

Can anyone tell me if this setup I have in mind is going to be outa' whack? Anyone with a similar setup? Really wish I could afford the Dakars right now. I get the feeling modifying this truck is going to be an expensive addiction.:D

P.s. JohnBoy, your rig is absolutely beautiful, it's really cool seeing how far you've come right from when you first installed the lift. Really an inspiration.

The main difference in springs is determine by the weights people have up front.

881 coils are for people with a stock front end.

882 coils have the same spring rate but are 20mm higher IIRC

883 have a heavier coil rate but are the same length as the 881

Often times 882 and 883 coils are using with plate bumpers.

People use springs in all different situations though

I think you are on the right track to get level. You can always play with it a little as you go, too. Shackle length is an easy way to play with the height of you find the truck has a little bro lean. And if the butt end sits too high for you, well, your camper shell and/or bumper down the line will help :)

Glad you found this thread to be a good resource, I certainly did too. And thanks for kind words on the build, it was/is a journey.

I want to get a ome lift but I'm not sure how it would look with my tires. They are 265/70/16. Does anyone have pics of that setup?

Sorry no pic but it will look just fine. 2.5" isn't much, so it won't "over power" your tires. Do it! It'll look sweet if you're stock now! I have two tacos one of them with a stupid 2.5" spacer lift on 265/70's and it looks perfect as far as lift height/tire size.

Would I be better off with 882's or 883's for my DC V6 4x4?
I might be getting a relentless plate bumper (No winch for now, would like one in the future) and want 2-2.5'' of lift.

I lean towards the 882, but with plate bumper you'll be ok with either. I have a tube bumper with a 12,500 winch and the ride/performance with 882 is great. Others in your shoes have run 883 and been fine. I wanted the lower spring rate of the 882 personally.

I have the 883 coils with a relentless bumper, no complaints over here.
