paying yourself for repairs?

    All 'significant others' who don't understand wrenching - look away!

    I have started paying myself to maintain our Toyotas - wifes LX450 and my Tacoma.

    I just replaced the o2 sensors on both trucks at a savings of $250+ compared to the stealership - so I set up a seperate account and put that $250 into it for future 'fun money.' Hey, I earned it! :D
    Wifey doesn't agree 100% but as I tactfully explained (so I could still sleep in the bedroom), someone would have to be paid to do the repairs & maintenance so why not pay myself?!

    This seems like a GREAT way to hole away extra $$ for another day, project, toy, etc!

    I'm still money ahead, she doesn't do she-ought, well some but not much .... it actually works good. we have a sep account for house bills, and she puts extra in for house repairs that might come up. works great for us... or me :D

    I only allow payment to myself for REPAIRS - not the fun stuff, C/O shocks, bumpers, lifts, etc.
