I would be afraid it would bend with a load on it. Looks a little too thin to me. You got a better pic of the exact location of it? Basically zoom out some in the first pic.

Edit: I know where your talking about now. Don't do it.

DO NOT DO IT! I was trying to get pulled from that exact spot and ended up just ripping through that metal. The hook caught my bumper and somehow that held... Idk how

that is right behind the rear leaf springs isn't it? i would look for where the factory receiver hitch mounts to the frame and come off of that somehow with a shackle

Don't try to jimmy rig a recovery point it could be someones life that pays for it. just buy proper recovery gear. Like Tim's recovery hitch shackle or a bumper with the proper shackle points.

$100 for a hitch and $40 for a proper shackle mount is better then wrecking your frame or bumper or hurting someone

Like everyone else said, don't do it. Those are meant for strapping the truck down , not recovery.

I picked up a couple of hooks from 4wp for 5 bucks each and they are rated at ~10k lbs. The hole spacing is EXACTLY the same spacing as that lil piece of crap tie down bracket things are bolted in at. I placed the hooks on top of those two pieces of metal and picked up some grade 8 bolts to attached the hooks with.

In hindsight, I think I'm just gonna pull the brackets off alltogether and just keeping the hooks.

EDIT: Oops...i didn't look close enough on the original pictures...that's the back of the truck. I'm a tard....

You can kinda see in this pic:

Then you don't have the $$ to get your truck stuck to the point it gets damaged.
