    doing 100% city driving my 2.4 2wd gets 16-18. But on the highway i can get 23ish and get 300+ miles out of a tank...

    because all of the stuff up front on a 4wd truck is spinning even when said truck is in 2wd, the components weigh more ... so yes 4wd trucks generally dont get good mileage compares to their 2wd counterparts

    i considered getting a 4wd this time around, but the guy sold it before i could go look.

    [(New gas price - old gas price) / old gas price] * 100 = percentage increase in gas price

    [(New mileage - old mileage) / old mileage] * 100 = percentage increase in mpg

    If percentage increase in MPG !> percentage increase in gas price then it's not worth it. If gas doubles in price (100% increase) but you're only increasing your mileage 10-15%, then you could hope to make up some more with lower insurance and profit from the sale of the vehicle.
