I have to be standing within 3 feet of my truck for the keyless entry to work. This is a problem I have had with it since I bought it new in 2003. The batteries in the remote are not the problem as I have replaced them many times. When it was still under warranty, the dealership said they adjusted the "sensitivity" a few times and it didn't help much at all. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance!

check the RF signal coming from the remote. Dealership should have a signal tester. You point the remote at it and push lock or unlock and it will show you how strong the signal is from the remote. might just be a remote going bad if you have already installed a new battery in it.

if i can find mine i will post a pic so you can see what it looks like

They checked the signal from BOTH remotes a few times. I forgot to post that in my initial post. The signal was fine.

I have the same problem with mine. Sometimes the remote would work from a short distance (5 - 10 ft) other times, I have to bang on the remote while standing 1 ft from my Tacoma. I have talked with the local dealership and they had no idea except to check the battery. Mine is also a 2003 and I am the original owner. Maybe it's an issue with something that was used in the 2003s. Any other 2003 owners experiencing the same?
