87 is "recomended" but out here in alamogordo NM, they have 86,88,91 octanes so i just run 86. ive had no problems with idle speed, driving or starting at all

regular is fine. you're wasting your money on premium unless you're SC'd

RIP to my 08 Prerunner DC
I have been running Premium as a test. I have been getting really close to 20mpg if I don't get 20. So for me the couple extra dollars makes is worth it between engine life and save money with better mpg.
