leaf springs
found a set of leaf springs off an 89 toyota 4x4 wondering if they will fit on my 96 there 49 inches from bolt to bolt mine asre 51 inches but i did notice that there may be some play in the shackles just enough to squeez them on ny opinion would be great

Short answer, NO. You can "Make" them fit, but would you? They wont flex as much, with the added weight, they will ride horribly.

Exactly what Chris said...
Shackle *play* (as you call it) isn't something to take lightly. That play needs to be there for proper suspension movement & strength. It's a technical science to the design. Just don't ask me how to explain it, cuz I couldn't. You need to find the proper length leaf springs regardless of what the shackles are doing.
