I am looking to purchase a 19' Airstream camper. It weighs about 3500 pounds. Can my base model 2004 Tacoma handle this?

Thanks for any advice you can give

    Welcome to TW from TX.

Are you a V6 and do you have the tow package?

A 19' Airstream might 3500 lbs unloaded. Don't forget to factor in water, battery(s), propane and cargo weight. IIRC the 19' is rated at 4500 lbs.

Since you have an 04 regular cab, means you have the one of the two 4 banger motors and probably no tow package.

    That being said...I wouldn't.

Buy an old suburban, it will tow that thing all day.

So would a Tundra, Sequoia, 4runner, FJ, or even a Tacoma (properly fitted) to name a few Toyota brands. Doesn't really answers his question though.

OP, I just checked my owners manual (also a 2004). The max cargo + tow capacity of the 4 cylinder Tacoma is 3500 lbs. Meaning if you were driving by yourself with NOTHING else in the truck, you could safely pull a 3500 pound load. I don't think you'll be able to tow that big of a trailer with your truck. Once you add a second person, gear in the bed and fluids, you will be well beyond 3500 pounds.
