Horn Wiring

Hi,
I'm brand new to the forums and I'm a relatively new Tacoma owner. For my first real project I've decided to install an electric horn/speaker (this guy: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/WLO0/345.oap?pt=N0206&ppt=C0107) I have the horn mounted and I've run the speaker wire from inside the cab to the speaker under the hood. My only problem is connecting the power and ground. Where is the easiest place to get 12v power inside the cab, ideally I want the power only on when the truck is on.
Also, where is the easiest place to connect to ground? I'm quite new to all of this, so the simpler and more straightforward you can be the better.

I just bought my Tacoma so Im not real sure where all the fuse boxes and best wiring sources are located, but since no one else has responded, I will give you an idea. You could wire a cigarette lighter plug onto it and just plug it into your cigarette lighter/ accessory plug.
SOmeone else may have a better idea.

 

Thanks. It would be really nice to tie into the fuse box or something so I don't have to have wires going everywhere, and so I can use the lighter for other stuff. Any other ideas? I know this is really simple, I've just never done it.

 

I'll try to get some pics in a few days, but when we wired the CB, we just got power from an aux fuse, and attached the ground/neg to somewhere in the engine bay that wasn't painted. I think it was between the body and some bolt. I think you can just disconnect the old horn then get power from the horn's fuse.

 

Ok. So I got the positive side all figured out. I used a spade tap on the main fuse box next to the battery. As stupid as this sounds I really can't find a good place for ground. I want to ground it inside the cab somewhere near the drivers side. There are a fair number of bolts that would work, but they are all tucked away in very hard to reach places, any suggestions?

 

cars are always a pita, stick it in that hard to reach place and try it haha

 

I got the same horn a couple months ago. I ended up going with the cig adapter and just neatly ran the wires under the carpet with some zip ties. Works for me. Have fun with it, the mic kinda sucks though
